I applied to this company on InstaHyre and recruiter reached out and scheduled the technical screening round.
💻 Round 1: Code Review
⏱️ Duration: 30 minutes
So this round was the first round and acted as the Technical Screening Round. It was conducted directly by the Recruiter of Keka HR and there was no SDE / HM on the call.
First 15 minutes: Explain about my work, my experience, my tech stack and he talked about Keka HR, the job, duties, etc.
Last 15 minutes: Gave me a code (~2 pages long) and told me to review it directly on call. Since KekaHR is a small company and I think they keep this question same, so I will not mention the exact question and please don't ask for this. But the issues were around:
- not using SQL parameterized queries and concetinating queries directly,
- exposing Password directly instead of having a Config file,
- not validating null checks, etc.
This Code Review round was completely new for me and I did not really know what to expect before getting on the call. So I fumbled and did not find even common issues, hence the rejection.
Verdict: ❌ Rejected
