🚀 Adobe MTS C++ Interview Experience
💼 Experience: 3 years 3 months
👨💻 Current Role: Software Engineer at a FAANG company in India
🎓 Education: B.Tech, CS, Tier 1, India
💰 Current Compensation: ₹33 LPA
📝 Application
I saw the role on LinkedIn on the day it opened, and applied on Career page, without referral. In one week, I got call from recruiter and she scheduled the technical screening round. This was MTS role for C++ specifically.
💻 Round 1: DSA, C++ and Puzzles
⏱️ Duration: 60 minutes
Interviewer came and asked me this DSA Question - https://leetcode.com/problems/basic-calculator/description/.
I had never done this before, but was able to solve this in 30 minutes. Then, since we had 30 minutes left.
He asked me:
- Gave me a C++ code and told me, tell me what the issue is. It was an error related to "Diamond Problem" in C++ and another around "Virtual Constructor in Parent Child Class"
- He asked me: How do you debug segmentation fault?
I was able to answer these two as well.
- Puzzle 1: Find the single poisoned bottle out of 1,000 identical wine bottles (or juice bottles) using the minimum number of prisoners or rats within a set time limit (usually 24 hours or 1 hour)
- Puzzle 2: You are provided with 8 identical balls and a measuring instrument. 7 of the eight balls are equal in weight, and one of the eight given balls is defective and weighs less. The task is to find the defective ball in exactly two measurements.
I was unable to solve both on them in the given constraint.
💻 Round 2: C++ and LLD
⏱️ Duration: 60 minutes
This round was entirely around C++. Interviewer came and asked me questions are: Smart Pointers, RAII, Singleton, Constructors, etc.
A few of them were:
- Write code Singleton Pattern in C++. This took around 15 minutes.
- Implement LLD for Smart Pointers in C++. This took around 30 minutes of the interview.
Overall, this round was a bit hard for me, because I did not have sufficient working experience with C++ and had only spent the last couple of days to go through C++ concepts, so implementing LLD of Smart Pointers wasn't something I could have done.
📌 Final Outcome
❌ Rejected
Note
- I wasn't really the right fit for a technical C++ role. So I was expected to fail anyway.
- No cooldown period in Adobe. I can apply to any new role as well. Hence, wanted to just interview in this role for practise.
- All questions asked around C++ are common and already mentioned by past Leetcode experiences. So check them out for Adobe.
- A lot of emphasis on Puzzles at Adobe and that led to my reject in Round 1, I believe.
- A few days before this interview, I had gotten my Google reject, so I wasn't in the mood to study all puzzles and C++ for Adobe.
📌 All Interview Outcome
I have been applying to jobs since May 2026 and actively interviewing. Below is the list of companies where I have interviewed till now. Will keep updating this.
