EPAM Systems | Software Engineer A2 | Offer | July 2024

3 years of experience with an MNC.
Tier 1 College
I applied for this role at Epam Systems through their career site, after nearly 3-4 weeks a HR reached out to me stating that they would like to schedule my interview.

Round 1 (1:30hrs) : Introduction followed by question on Java Streams. Given a String "Hello Epam, how are you ?", print the frequency of each word using streams only.
Question 2 : Rotate a linked list by K spots
Question 3 : Groups anagrams together // [eat, tea, tan, ate, nat, bat]

Working code expected for all of them.

Round 2 (1:30 hrs) : Interviewer was from Armenia and his accent was very difficult to get hold off.

Question 1 : Big Integer multiplication, given number as String multiply them and store the result as string and return.
Consider edge cases such as multiplication with "-0" etc.
I was able to solve this within 35 mins so he started asking questions left and right.
Questions on design patterns, which design patterns you know, Singleton, Builder, Factory, Strategy, Observer etc.
He asked about circuit breaker design pattern.
Asked if I knew AWS, I said "no"
Questions from my resume
Some questions on spring boot.

Asked hell lot of questions, just because he had time left on clock. I was able to answer most of his questions so he seemed happy.

Round 3 (1 hr) : Techno Managerial
Started of with introduction and then quickly moved to microservices architecture, my responsibilities in current project, CQRS design pattern, how would you improve the resiliency of a service, difference between map and flatmap, are java streams lazy if yes please explain how. Some more questions on sql vs no sql.
This round was full theory based questions and he was trying his level best to grill me.

Heard back from HR the next that I have been selected.

Compesation details : 23 fixed + 2 Joining Bonus
Rejected the offer (no scope of negotiations).

If you are grilling so much then atleast come up with good numbers.
Anyways hope this helps. Cheers !!
