Oracle | Server Technology(Intern) | NIT Calicut | Aug 2023 [Reject]
I am a 3rd yr ECE student currently pursuing BTech in NIT calicut . In the starting of this month i got shortlisted for interview for the position of Oracle's System Technology Intern after giving the online assessment which consited of:
- coding questions - 2
- aptiude questions
- some english grammar questions
Interview Rounds
There were a total of three rounds , two of them were technical and last was HR round.
- The first round was a technical round. The interviewer went through my resume and asked some questions about assembly language as i mentioned it in my resume.
- Then he asked about my projects which i mentioned in my resume which were mostly related to ECE. He asked me that all of my projects were ECE related so why did i applied for a CS job.
- Then he asked me to design an oerating system to priortize and execute the most important tasks first out of 100 given commands to the computer. I was not able to answer the question as I was not familiar with operating systems.
- Next he asked me a stocks question which was based on concept "dynamic programming". I gave the intuition to him but he was not satisfied with my approach.
My interview ended there and i was not selected for further rounds which was obvious from the above mentioned points. It was my first interview experience and i got to learn new things on how to prepare for future.
My Advice
If you are a student in first or second yr , especially from non - CS branches , just remember these things:
1.It is very important to have a good grip on data structures and algorithm concepts as its essential to crack the online assesment and interview round too. The faster you start the better , as you have to compete with students from CSE.
- It is very important have some projects which are different from your branch projects. In most of the interviews they will ask you about your projects (especially Oracle) you can do some simple projects based on web development(for example) or in any other area you are interested in.
- CGPA do matters but to only some extent, just maintain it above 8(for core Branches) as many of the company has eligibility criteria as 8 or above for applying for internship.
I hope my experience helps you and I wish best of luck to all my fellow students / aspirants for their future endeavors.
