Pathetic Interview experience with American Express (Amazon Layoff impacted)
Recently my role was eliminated with Amazon(L4) due to layoff in my team so I start looking for a new role.
I received the interview call from the recruiter in Starting of Feb month where I clearly mention my current compensation with Amazon. She asked me about my expectation and I mention if you could match only the fixed part of my Amazon compensation then I am good to go.
At that time she agreed and we proceed with the interviews. There was total 4 round of interview which stretched for months due to multiple reschedule from their side.
After the final interview, She congrats me for clearing the interview process and asked me to share 3-month payslips and other detail which I shared, and start waiting for an update from her.
On the 5th day, she comes up that my current compensation is way higher than what they have hired recently for the same YOE and that will create imparity between other candidates. So they can't proceed with my candidature as of now!
It was totally shocking for me after seeing that even in this bad time, some recruiters playing their dirty game. I just thanked her for the great interview experience with a smile, cut the call and again start applying for jobs :)
This is the current job market situation where recruiters also start playing with the emotions of candidates!
P.S: Whoever going to interview with any companies just clearly ask them about their pay range for the particular role otherwise they will just waste your time only.
