TCS NQT Interview Experience | Online Assessment + Technical + HR
TCS NQT Interview Experience | Online Assessment + Technical + HR
I recently appeared for the TCS NQT recruitment process and wanted to share my experience to help others preparing for the same.
Round 1: TCS NQT – Online Assessment
Duration: 3 Hours
The online assessment consisted of the following sections:
1. Aptitude
- Questions were of easy to medium difficulty.
- Covered general quantitative and logical aptitude.
2. Verbal Ability and Grammar
- Questions tested basic English grammar and communication skills.
3. Reading and Passage Rewriting
- A passage was displayed for approximately 30 seconds.
- We had to read it carefully and rewrite it based on our understanding.
- This tested comprehension, memory and written communication.
4. Email Writing
- We were asked to write a professional email in approximately 100 words.
- Grammar, clarity and structure were important.
5. Coding Round
- Two coding questions were given.
- The questions tested programming and problem-solving skills.
I successfully cleared the online assessment and proceeded to the interview round.
Round 2: Technical Interview
The interview began with the usual question: "Tell me about yourself."
The discussion then moved towards my projects.
Project Discussion:
- Asked to explain my project in detail.
- Had to explain the complete project pipeline.
- Discussed the system architecture and working of different components.
- The interviewer focused on understanding the implementation and overall workflow.
Generative AI:
- Asked a few questions related to Generative AI concepts.
Java:
- Given a few predict-the-output questions to evaluate my understanding of Java.
Round 3: HR Interview
The HR round included questions such as:
- Why do you want to join TCS?
- What do you know about TCS?
- Describe a situation when you felt like giving up. How did you overcome it?
These questions focused on personality, motivation, adaptability and how we handle challenging situations.
My Takeaways
- Be thorough with every project mentioned on your resume.
- Understand your project architecture and pipeline rather than memorising an explanation.
- Revise Java fundamentals, especially output-based questions.
- Prepare basic Generative AI concepts.
- Practise aptitude, verbal ability and coding.
- Prepare for behavioural questions with real-life examples.
Final Note:
The overall process tested a combination of aptitude, communication, coding, technical knowledge and personality.
I hope this experience helps those preparing for TCS NQT. All the best to everyone appearing for the recruitment process!
