Google SWE L3 AI Fluency Round - What to Expect?

Hi everyone,

I’ve completed all the interview rounds for Google SWE L3, and my recruiter informed me that the feedback was positive and that I was moving to team matching.

I recently had a team-matching call with the hiring manager, and I was told that this particular team has an additional AI Fluency round.

For anyone who has recently gone through this round at Google, could you please share your experience?

I’m trying to understand whether it is more of a discussion-based round, where the interviewer asks about how I use AI in my day-to-day work, or a practical assessment where I’m given access to Gemini and expected to solve a coding problem or work on an existing codebase using AI.

If it’s a practical assessment, what kind of tasks should I expect, and how should I prepare for it?

Any insights from people who have gone through this round, particularly for L3/L4 roles in India, would be really helpful. Thanks!
