DeepInfra ( Series B - AI Inference ) : SWE 2026 USA : Interview Experience
Company: DeepInfra (Series B, AI inference)
Role: SWE, Software Engineering, Inference
Location: Rounds 1 to 3 remote, rounds 4 and 5 onsite in Palo Alto, CA
Date: April 2026
How it started: Cold application
Outcome: Rejected, with feedback
The loop
Round 1. Intro call with the recruiter about the role and the team.
Round 2. Problem solving: graph, cycle detection. Medium to hard.
Round 3. Problem solving: matrix, combinatorics and graph. Medium to hard.
Round 4. Fit round with the recruiting lead. Experience and background.
Round 5. Problem solving with a cofounder: place tiles on a plane. Hard. Plus questions on AI inference.
Where it went wrong
Round 5. I did not solve the tile problem correctly. At a company this size a cofounder's read carries more weight than anyone else's, and my communication being good is not the same thing as arriving at the answer.
Why the problems looked like that
Nearly everyone on that team is an ICPC or IOI medallist. That is why the problems are olympiad-shaped rather than standard interview questions. Cycle detection, combinatorics on a matrix, and placing tiles on a plane are not the usual set.
Happy to answer questions about the loop or the prep.
