Amazon Hackon (SDE-Intern 10490515)

Hello Everyone,

I would like to share my experience of the interview process.

So, we didn't qualify the hackon round, but I passed all the test cases.

29 july:- received the interest form
3 Aug:- recieved the Oa link
4 Aug:- Completed the Oa, in 1st q all tc were passed and in second(development) passed 3/6 tc.

14 aug:- recieved the email of interviews to be scheduled bw (19-21 Aug)

19th Aug(R1):- So there were two interviewer and one shadow, first 10 mins was intro, and then they directly jump to the dsa q, first was similar to this (https://leetcode.com/problems/fruit-into-baskets/description/) I solved it completly and then they gave second q (to find max in rotated sorted array) and then they asked me about tc of map and unordered map along with how they internally works, and then 3-4 LP q(like conflict, decision which was helpful later, intiative etc) and at last they said good luck, both were interactive and overall good..

20th Aug(R2): After 4-5 hours I recieved the call from recuriter for r2 along with email, so the HM was late(although they have informed me in the meeting link itself that HM would join 10-15 mins later) so, first was Intro, they just want to know more about my academic/relevant background and then 2-3 GenAi q like(where do u use genai, how, problems with it), then they ask 2 dsa q first was (https://leetcode.com/problems/longest-substring-without-repeating-characters/description/) and then they ask a non standard q(atleast for me), u r given a string and u have to find the longest substring which occurs atleast twice (non overlapping) I ask 5 mins to think about it and while I was thinking HM interuppted and said we usually don't stop for this long mins, so i need to tell something so told the brute force and then again ask for another 2 mins for optimized one but didn't get it so i have to write something and then wrote the brute force and after that i got the optimized one(without hints) and solved and also did dry run for a fabricated tc by myself, although HM was forcing me to wrap it up fast since we had only 60 mins and HM was already 15 mins late, so they were building the pressure, but anyhow I survived and after that I asked 3-4 questions that need to asked( ye same q maine r1 m bhi puche the) and then later I asked about the feedback and HM told "u can improve on genai, lps, and little bit communication" and "interview was not that good but not that bad too", i thought ki ab to nhi hi hoga syd but still had some hope bcoz solved both q in 40 mins.

After that I tried to follow up every week for the information but most of time they just ignore otherwise says will take some time to come up with result.

21 sep:- Recieved the mail of selection.
