Caelius Consulting , SRMCEM, Lucknow Campus Hiring Experience | Application Developer Role
I recently appeared for the Caelius Consulting campus hiring process. Around 500 students applied, and I was shortlisted based on my resume.
I cleared multiple rounds but was eventually rejected in the Technical Interview. Sharing my experience in detail so it can help others preparing for similar campus drives.

1. Resume Shortlisting
Around 500 students applied, and I was shortlisted based on my resume.
This was my first major learning:
If something is mentioned on your resume, be prepared to explain it.
500 → 40 students
2. Round 1 — Google Form
The first round was conducted through a Google Form.
We had to answer questions within a given time limit.
After this round:
500 → 40 students
I was selected for the next round.
3. Round 2 — Group Discussion
The 40 selected candidates were divided into groups of around 5–6 students.
Our topic was:
"Will AI replace humans?"
The discussion mainly tested:
- Communication
- Logical thinking
- Confidence
- Ability to present your points
- Ability to listen and respond to others
After the GD:
40 → 16 students
I was selected for the next round.
4. Round 3 — Technical Test | HackerEarth
The technical test was conducted on HackerEarth and lasted around 3 hours.
The test consisted of:
- 75 English/Verbal questions
- 1 SQL question
- 1 Programming question
- Remaining questions were Aptitude
After the test:
16 → 14 students
I was selected again.
What should you prepare?
For a similar test, don't prepare only DSA.
Focus on:
- Aptitude
- English/Verbal
- SQL
- Basic Programming
- Time Management
There were a large number of questions, so managing time was important.
5. Round 4 — Technical Interview
The Technical Interview was conducted online.
It started with a basic introduction, and then most of the discussion focused on the projects mentioned on my resume.
This was the most important lesson from my experience:
Your projects can become the main focus of a technical interview.
Be prepared to answer questions such as:
- Why did you build this project?
- What was your exact contribution?
- Which technologies did you use?
- Explain the complete architecture/workflow.
- How does your database work?
- What APIs did you use?
- What challenges did you face?
- Why did you choose a particular technology?
- What would you improve in the project?
- What happens internally when the application runs?
Unfortunately, I was rejected at this stage.
6. Personal Interview
After the Technical Interview:
14 → 5 students
Five candidates were selected for the Personal Interview.
However, none of the candidates from our campus were finally placed in the company.
