I recently got selected for the Infosys Specialist Programmer (SP) role — 11 LPA, and I wanted to share my interview experience for anyone preparing for Infosys placements.

The selection process consisted of 2 rounds:

Round 1 — On-Campus OA 💻

The first round was an on-campus Online Assessment.

  • 4 DSA questions were given.
  • We had to solve any 3 questions.
  • The questions were around Medium to Hard difficulty.
  • I was able to solve 2 questions.
  • Candidates who solved at least 1 question were shortlisted for the next round.

Round 2 — In-Person Technical Interview 👨‍💻

The second round was an in-person technical interview.

DSA

At the beginning of the interview, I was given 2 DSA questions on the Wingspan (Infosys coding platform).

I was asked to solve any one of them.

I solved the question in around 10–15 minutes, after which the interviewer moved on to the technical discussion.

Technical Discussion

The interview then covered several areas:

CS Fundamentals

  • Core Computer Science concepts
  • Questions based on my fundamentals

SQL

  • Joins
  • Window Functions
  • SQL concepts and queries

Resume & Projects — Deep Dive

A major part of the interview focused on my resume and projects.

The interviewer went deep into my projects and asked multiple follow-up questions based on the technologies I had mentioned.

Some of the technologies discussed were:

  • AWS
  • React
  • Next.js
  • Node.js
  • Java

The questions weren't limited to definitions. There were several follow-ups around how and why I used these technologies, implementation details, and project architecture.

Key Takeaways 📌

For anyone preparing for the Infosys Specialist Programmer role, I would recommend:

  • Practice DSA regularly, especially Medium-level problems.
  • Revise CS fundamentals thoroughly.
  • Be comfortable with SQL, especially Joins and Window Functions.
  • Know your projects inside out.
  • Be prepared to explain every technology mentioned on your resume.
  • Practice answering follow-up questions, not just direct questions.

Overall, the process tested a combination of DSA, CS fundamentals, SQL, and practical knowledge of projects and technologies.

Hope this experience helps someone preparing for the Infosys Specialist Programmer role.

All the best to everyone preparing for placements! 🚀
