🚀 My Google Software Engineer (L3) Interview Journey | Awaiting Team Match

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to interview with Google for a Software Engineer (L3) role. It was one of the most challenging and rewarding interview experiences I have had.

The process went beyond just coding—it evaluated problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and how well I handled follow-up questions and trade-offs.

Here’s how my journey went:

🔹 Round 1 — Online Assessment
A scenario-based assessment focused on Google’s Engineering Principles and Googliness. It evaluated decision-making, collaboration, ownership, and problem-solving approach.

🔹 Round 2 — Online Technical + Googliness

💻 Technical Interview
Solved a Graph problem, followed by multiple follow-up questions involving optimization, alternative approaches, and trade-offs.

🤝 Googliness Interview
A behavioral discussion around collaboration, ownership, conflict resolution, and learnings from past experiences.

🔹 Round 3 — Virtual Onsite: Back-to-Back Technical Interviews

📌 Interview 1
Solved two Graph problems, with focus on algorithm design, optimization, and edge cases.

📌 Interview 2
Solved a Dynamic Programming problem and discussed different approaches, state transitions, time/space complexity, and optimizations.

✅ Outcome
I’m grateful to have cleared the interview process and am currently in the team-matching stage for Bengaluru/Hyderabad.

I have received one team-match call so far, but the work did not align closely with my experience. My recruiter has confirmed there are no red flags and that they are still working on my candidacy.

I’m currently available for an immediate opportunity after being impacted by a layoff, so I’m hoping to connect with a team where my backend, distributed systems, and GenAI platform experience can add value.

Would appreciate any suggestions from people who have gone through Google team matching, especially in India.
Thanks in Advanced.
