Hi to whoever reading this,
So I just gave my first round of adobe hackathon. It consisted of multiple mcq's and the remaining were 2 DSA questions. I personally am not prepared well enough and wanted to know my personal skills so I tried to attempt the DSA questions more focused.
As for the MCQ's they were time limited with each question having a timer of 1 minute and some of the questions were large with option answers being large enough that any human to read and understand would at least take 90 seconds.
BINARY TREE COUNT PARENT NODES WITH TARGET SUM:
This question was actually easy if you just knew how to build a tree when input is given in the form of a stream of n nodes of the tree in pre-order format. and we are given an integer k such that the sum of root and it's left child and it's right child value == k and we need to count such nodes. A simple recursive algorithm does the job here.
Largest Binary number by Concatenation:
Here you are given N binary strings of different lengths. Your task is to arrange the strings in some order such that on concatenating all of them the resultant string has maximum possible value when converted to integer and we are required to to return that integer.
My approach was to do something like check from left for each string which has max one's and greedily add each of which has max 1's and small size for index i if there is a tie move to next index but there was no structure to continuously keep track of current strings and eliminating and adding back to main string set if not added So I was not able to solve this question in time here.
But, After the test ended the solution approach was much easier the thing to notice and learn from this question is that if there are two binary strings a and b which on concatenation produces max value can alone be decided by if a+b > b+a so we just need to sort based on this comparator function and return the final concatenated value.
I would rate the first question easy and the second one there wasn't much conceptual depth but noticing the pattern there was definitely medium level i guess. So still more to improve and go...
