JPMC Bengaluru Java & AWS Lead SWE / VP interview Experience (9 YOE)

I had applied directly on JPMC Careers Page in May.

In July I received Hackerrank Online assessment which only had 1 Question.
I solved it and I got a callback for Round 1.

Round 1 (Virtual).

Only 1 DSA question was asked and it was https://leetcode.com/problems/best-time-to-buy-and-sell-stock/description/

After this the discussion revolved around some system design scenarios and how to handle them.

Round 2 (Onsite at Bengaluru Office).

The panel had 2 people one of them was Hiring Manager which I didn't know at that point of time.
The interview began with my introduction. First they wanted me to explain my current project. And then they gave me a hypothetical scenario regarding my current project and wanted me to design it end to end.

The requirement was that a Taxi Organization has purchased vehicle insurance policies in bulk for their Fleet. Design a system
which allows the organization to register on your platform and once that is done, send notifications upon successful registration.

I designed the entire system end to end.

A day later I received mail for Document submission and I was told there will be no further rounds.

HR mentioned she will setup a call for HR discussion.

PS : My interview experience is an anomaly and doesn't match the standard JPMC interview experiences. JPMC has 3 rounds of interviews excluding the HR Discussion round. In my case I just got lucky with an easier loop, both in terms of questions asked and in terms of number of rounds. Others have been asked System Design questions which match the bar of FAANG

Update 1
HR called and mentioned that my Offer is on hold pending Executive Director's approval and Executive Director would like to have a Fitment Round with me. So HR has scheduled another round of Interview with the Executive Director

Update 2
So after the interview with Executive Director, I was informed that Hiring Manager and ED felt that I was more suitable for SWE 3 rather than Lead SWE, so I was downleveled to SWE 3 with some reduction in total fixed pay.
I accepted the downleveled offer.

I'm honestly content with being SWE 3 for now because I really desperately needed to get out of my service based company. even with a downleveled role, the total Fixed pay is like 80% increase from my current pay and its still a win win situation for me.

I had started interviewing in January 2025 and now in August 2026 I finally have an offer which i'm honestly very happy with. This was a really long grind and it paid off.
