I applied through the job portal and got a response next day. The role was for a L4 backend role java. I have 4.5 years of experience.

Overall there were 6 rounds.

Round 1 - HR Screen - Virtual Interview

• Initial introduction
• Was asked to talk about one of my recent projects and how I have navigated a disagreement(this is a followup question).
• Finally the recruiter asked, Why Adyen?
• At end he said he would share me the OA link and told to finish it in under 3 days.

Round 2 - Online Assessment

• 2 leetcode medium questions

Question 1:

Given an array-based problem where, for every pair (x, y), I had to determine whether it was a perfect pair based on the following conditions:

• $min(|x-y|,|x+y|)\le min(|x|,|y|)$
• $max(|x-y|,|x+y|)\ge max(|x|,|y|)$

The task was to count the total number of such pairs in the array.

Question 2:

Given an array arr of $n$ integers, you can perform the following operation any number of times:

Choose any index $i$ ($0\le i<n-1$) and swap $arr[i]$ and $arr[i+1]$.
$Constraint$: Each element in the array can be swapped at most once during the entire process.

The strength of an index $i$ is defined as: $\text{Strength}(i)=\text{arr}[i]\times (i+1)$(using 0-based indexing for the array, but 1-based multiplier for the position strength).

Return the maximum possible sum of strengths of all indices after applying optimal swaps.

Round 3 - DSA Round - Virtual Interview

• Introductions
• Explain a past project
• DSA Question: Find the Tree Diameter
• There was a second question as well, but we didn't discuss it due to lack of time.

Round 4 - System Design - Virtual Interview

Question: Adyen is running a marketing campaign and wants to reward the 1,000,000th visitor to the campaign page.

Round 5 - Leadership Round - In person

I felt this was the most important round of all. The Head of Engineering and the Hiring Manager had taken this round in Adyen office.

Questions were standard:

• What project are you most proud of?
• Was there any disagreement?
• Instances where you managed stakeholders.
• Why Adyen?

I didn't structure my answers in STAR format, so got rejected in this round.

The last round was a Global Leadership Round, the interviewer will be from one of the overseas teams. I didn't give this round
