I recently went through the TCS on-campus hiring process for the 2027 batch and wanted to share my interview experience since it wasn't what I expected.

I was shortlisted for the Prime interview.

Instead of asking many DSA or coding questions, the interviewer focused heavily on my projects and the AI/ML work mentioned on my resume.

Some of the questions I was asked:

• Explain one of your ML projects in detail.
• What data visualization techniques did you use and why?
• Explain the NLP pipeline you implemented.
• Why didn't you use a Vector Database in your project?
• What improvements would you make if you had more time?
• Questions around my tech stack and design choices.

Toward the end, the interviewer asked if I had any questions for them. We had a nice discussion about learning and project development before wrapping up.

Final Outcome: I received a TCS Digital offer.

My takeaway

I had prepared a lot of DSA expecting the interview to revolve around coding, but the discussion was dominated by my resume and projects.

If you're interviewing for Prime:

• Know every project on your resume inside out.
• Be ready to justify your technical decisions, not just explain what you built.
• Expect "Why did you choose X instead of Y?" type questions.
• If you mention AI/ML, NLP, LLMs, databases, or cloud technologies, be prepared for deep follow-up questions.
