Amazon OA Experience (SDE 1)– Chances of Callback?

Recently, I appeared for the Amazon SDE 1 OA. It had three sections:

  • coding,
  • work simulation,
  • and work survey.

The coding section had two parts:

  • A traditional DSA question of medium difficulty
  • An AI-assisted repo coding task of medium to hard difficulty

The AI-assisted coding round was new for me, but since I had practiced the sample test and could choose my own tech stack like MERN, Django, or Spring Boot, it was manageable. In this round, they provided remote access to an IDE with a project repository, and I had to fix bugs in it. There were 6 test cases, which meant 6 bugs to fix within 1 hour.

All the bugs were in the backend part. In the sample test, there were only 2 bugs, but in the actual OA there were 6 bugs:

  • 4 in the controller,
  • 1 in routes,
  • and 1 in middleware.

Since the bugs were mostly related to one or two operations, the task was still doable.

I passed all the test cases for the DSA question within 15 minutes, and I also passed all the test cases for the AI-assisted bug-fix round with about 15 minutes remaining.

The other sections also went well.

Do I have a chance of getting a callback?
