Hi everyone,

I recently received an interview invite from Kotak for the role of Senior test engineer on may 2026

Here's the round breakdown I was given:

Round 1 – Barraiser interview
Focus on selenium, general questions related to testing, flaky test reason, framework design - how do you implement, selenium coding with python.

Round 2 – Technical interview
Interviewer asked me to write a solution for a coding problem. He told me to use any programming language. I preferred python. I completed the solving it.

Suddenly he started asking me to write it in java. I said currently i haven't used java and i need sometime to learn it. He stopped interview in the middle and cancelled the call.

He told me that I don't know java programming language and stopping the interview. It was a mistake from the HR side. I asked for the feedback but she started providing false news like the role has been closed but when i check the linkedin she posted it again.

We can learn any programming language at any time. In this current situation eventhough i know 10 languages you will ask me to use cursor AI or claude to code it and deliver it quickly.

NOTE:
Kotak requires java and selenium knowledge eventhough you have 10+ years of experience.
