I applied to Adyen - Software Engineer (Java) role through job posting. A recruiter reached out to me to schedule a initial HR screening round over mail.

Round 1
Adyen focusses a lot on your cultural fit into the company. Round 1 is more like a getting to know you round, HR asked questions on my resume and about myself, not too technical. It was around what did you do, tech stack experience, how did you manage stakehokders and Why Adyen It is a basic screening round and unless they see some major red flags this should be easy to clear.

Round 2
Once I cleared round 1, HR sent a hackerrank link for the inital Online assessment round. It had two DSA questions. First one was around sliding windown usecase with some intuitive logic involved. Second one was a bit tricky involving mathematical derivation. The round was for 70 minutes in which we had to solve 2 medium DSA questions.

Round 3
Once you have completed the OA, you will be contacted by the HR about the next round. The next round was live DSA coding round. In this round, I had to solve two medium DSA questions which were evaluated by 2 of the senior engineers panel. One questions was based on backtracking and another was related to use case of TreeMap in Java. Second question was about If you had to build a system where user input a credit card number and you detect based on the given range of credit cards which provider it belongs to. I managed to solve first question with code and running tests and verbally solving another question. The duration was 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Round 4
Once you have cleared DSA round, HR will contact you about the next round and provide you the feedback for the previous round as well. This was a system design round. The duration was 55 minutes. I was given the IPL ticket booking management system question to design. The panel had two engineers with senior level of experience. We had a very good discussion around every step of the design starting from requirements, core entities, core apis and the HLD itself. Due to time constraint, only part of design was discussed.

I am awaiting for the results.

After this there will be two round of leadership. One with the global leadership and one with the hiring manager.

Overall Experience: Positive.
