Timeline - April 29th, In Person Hiring Drive
YOE (then) : 8.5+ Years
Current (Most Recent Company) : SMTS(IC3) at Oracle (Laid off in September 2025)
College - IITK

I appeared for Walmart Senior Software Engineer (IN4) in April 2026 and here's the experience :-

R1 (Coding) - Was able to solve both questions with optimal approach.

R2 (Project Discussion + LLD) - Went really well, was able to answer everything convincingly

  2. Discussion around common design patterns used in my own projects and how they're used. Strategy, Observer, Builder, Factory etc
  3. Some HLD trade-off kind of discussion from my own projects discussion

R3 (System Design) - Design an E-commerce app which supports high scale and handles peak traffic surge scenarios during flash sale.

  • Discussion went decent around trade offs in DB choices (SQL vs NoSQL, ElasticSearch for text search etc, handling concurrency with optimistic locking, how to reserve the inventory, preventing double ordering/payment etc). The interviewer himself didn't have much idea and was just playing around.

R4 (HM Round) - Typical Techno-Managerial round with discussion on past projects and behavioral questions. Was able to answer everything well.

Final Verdict :- Got the offer after 2-3 days but the compensastion offered was even lower than my current/previous one. The recruiter was extremely rude and acted with a "Take it or leave it" attitude.

I asked for extending the joining date by a week since I was in final stages of other companies but the bugger was too resistant even on extending that. I got offer from somewhere else and ended up rejecting this joke of an offer. Would have joined it in worst case ayway considering the current market but thankfully to god I got a better one somewhere else.
