Recently interviewed with Postman for the Software Engineer (Frontend) position. I applied directly on their careers website and recieved the recruiter call a few days later.
Mostly a discussion about my previous experiences. We focused on a few specific projects and he drilled down into them, asking about performance, scalability, and what I would do differently if given another chance.
Had to solve a problem in React.js. The task was to implement a Form Builder where we would have a side panel to configure and add different kinds of form inputs (text, number, checkbox, etc). The added elements would get added to the form on the right in real time. Clicking the submit button would console log all form values as an object.
The last 15 minutes of the round were again reserved for discussing my previous experience and drilling into concepts based on that.
Was very open-ended in nature. I was asked to design a social media platform, focusing specifically on the main feed and post details screen. The focus was expected to be around 70% frontend and 30% backend, even though it was a frontend role.
I followed the RADIO framework approach from GreatFrontEnd's Guide. We were also free to use Google or AI for help.
30-minute call with a Principal Designer. The discussion was a mix of culture fit and understanding how I, as an engineer, would collaborate with the UX team.
Notable questions asked:
What new feature would you add to Postman from a frontend perspective?
What are 3 apps whose UX you really like, and why?
Positive. Received the offer within 2 days of the final round.
The whole interview process took 6 days. Could probably have been closed even faster, but I was travelling and had to space out the interviews a little.
Overall, it was a great experience. The recruiters were very responsive to my queries and also shared study material for the rounds beforehand.
Accepted the offer.
