Round 3 and round 4 amazon sde -1
Round 3:
This round started with a discussion around how I use AI tools while coding and the kinds of workflows or tasks I’ve automated so far. The interviewer went deeper into my thought process, asking follow-up questions about implementation choices and practical usage.
The coding section included three problems:
- Lowest Common Ancestor in a Tree
- Count Binary String Arrangements with No Consecutive Ones
- Rearrange Characters Such That No Two Adjacent Characters Are the Same
I was able to solve all three successfully. There were also a few leadership principle discussions during the round, though I don’t remember the exact questions.
Round 4:
The final round focused heavily on behavioral and leadership principle-based discussions. Since I had comparatively less industry experience than most candidates interviewing that day, the conversation became very detailed around my projects, design decisions, and technical trade-offs.
One area they emphasized repeatedly was scalability — not just whether a solution works, but whether it would continue to work efficiently at scale.
The coding portion included:
- Find Variance in a Substring
- Longest Substring Without Repeating Characters
I completed both problems and discussed the optimizations involved.
Overall, the process tested far more than coding skills. It evaluated problem-solving, scalability thinking, ownership, adaptability, and the ability to learn under pressure.
I’m genuinely grateful that the interviewers gave me the opportunity to attempt experienced rounds despite the initial mix-up.
I’m currently exploring new opportunities, and if you know of any roles that might be a good fit, I’d really appreciate a referral or connection!
