I was reached out by recruiter on Linkedin. I applied via there.
The initial few round was taken by Uptime.
Phone Screen
Recruiter called, asked about DSA and Java proficiency, current CTC, current location, willing to relocate or not.
Round 1 (DSA)
DSA Online assesment - 2 leetcode medium
Verdict: Pass
Round 2 (LLD)
I was given 2 problem statements
- implement producer consumer problem
- fetch some data from few records using Java stream API
I solved the first problem by using concurrency, multithreading and implemented a shared queue. I was asked to explain each and every line of code, if there were more time which design patterns would I have used and more questions on scalability.
The second one was very easy and did not take much time.
Verdict: Pass
Round 3 (Managerial)
This round I was griiled on one project from my prev org, I explained each and every question very well, questions were like - why Kafka why not SQS, how did you write the data pipelines, how did you architect this solution, what buisness problem this solves. I had implemented this problem end to end, had taken complete ownership of the feature, from design docs to deployment and monitering, I am in a startup, this all was expected from me, this round went very well for me. This round lasted approx 40 mins.
After few days I called recruiter, I was said that although my technical proficiency was much better than other candidate my problem solution does not allign with the business requirements (if this were true, my startup would have fired me long long ago).
Verdict: Rejected
