I am writing this after getting frustrated that the interview panel must plan things properly before calling so many people on as saturday morning. And was told that two technical rounds (L1 and L2) will happen on the same day.

Here is the breakdown of the day:

Instruction was to reach the office at 10 am on Saturday as it was a hiring drive.

On reaching there I found out the there are more than 100 candidates for the interview.

At first there was a coding test which started at 11 am and ended by 12 pm. We got the results that around 40% of the candidates cleared the test and these candidates have to wait for their next rounds. I was among them.

Now interview panel started taking interviews starting from 2pm post lunch. Now, there are only 4 panels taking interviews and there are around 40 people waiting for their turn.

Now, they realized that they cannot take interviews for all of the candidates in a single day, so they asked people to decide by themselves if they want to stay or leave and have virtual interview later on. Around 10 candidates left and still thre are a lot of candidates hopefully waiting for their next round interview. We were the ones who stayed thinking that around 4 or 5 pm we will be called for out next round.

There were so many candidates who waited for like the whole day to get called for the next round of interview. So, after sitting idle for the whole day I was called for my next round(L1 interview) at 6:30 pm.

So I waited whole day for just one round to happen and (L2, L3 round will be virtual as they told).

My advice for other candidates:
Leave after the 1st coding test - stay only when you are desperate enough

For the interview panel:
Coding test can be virtual and call only as many candidates as the interview slots.
