I wanted to share an extremely disappointing experience that happened in my Google L5 onsites. In 2025 beginning I interviewed for SWE, ML role at Google. My initial rounds were two domain based ML system design rounds where I got H and LNH/NH respectively. After getting LNH review my recruiter made me close the loop as she thought with LNH it wont make it past the HC. This was despite the fact that the interviewer who gave LNH also had some positive feedbacks mentioned. My friends suggested not to close the loop as good performance in further rounds could have made up for it. But she forced me to withdraw. It was an extremely sad moment for me.

Fast forward Oct 2025, she reached out to me again over linkedin. I had not given up my LC prep and despite being sick with some health complications I decided to interview again. Post that in November I ended up clearing Sr SWE ML interviews at Linkedin but the role got closed by the time my onsites completed. In Feb I cleared Atlassian p50 MLE(got go through from HC) but couldn't be team matched due to company wide hiring freeze. My first Google onsite interview was in Feb which got rescheduled thrice due to interviewer unavailability and moved to March.

During all this time my recruiter never answered my calls or responded to my messages. She did reply once or twice to my emails. My interview didn't go quite well as I was asked a tricky variation of the meeting room 3 problem. I ended up explaining the optimal approach for the problem, wrote the pseudo code but couldn't write the code and dry run. The interviewer before ending told me that I did arrive at the optimal solution and may be with a bit more time could have put up everything together. I was disappointed but still hopeful that may be further rounds can make up for it. This was on Thursday.

I was absolutely shocked when yesterday, I received a rejection mail from my recruiter without any call or discussion of feedback. I tried reaching out to her over phone, linkedin, email but she is not responding. I requested her to atleast let me complete my DSA rounds and then decide but she is not responding. She rejected me based on just one round of interview.

At this point I feel crushed as I worked really hard this time. My LC count was 500+ and I could solve leetcode hard graph and DP questions conveniently. I worked extremely hard despite serious health complications and 3 days in office thing.

I want to ask the leetcode community if there is anything I can do at this point so that she atleast gives me a chance at other rounds before rejecting me.

The market is crazy and despite all my efforts things somehow seem to go out of hand. Companies are reaching out for interviews but either they don't go ahead and schedule them or end up ghosting while interviews are underway.
