Background: Tier-2.5 private college | Internship at Flipkart
Role: SDE-1 (Fresher)
Process: Off-Campus
Status: Selected
Timeline: Applied on 23rd Aug, OA on 25th Aug, Interviews from Nov–Dec
Round 1 — Online Assessment (OA)
Received 2 DSA problems, both medium–hard.
- Q1: Graph/PQ style circular transition problem
- Q2: Greedy problem involving positives, zeros, negatives (required careful sorting + prefix logic)
Both required clean implementation and handling edge cases.
🧠 Behavioural Section (OA Part 2)
After the coding questions, there was the usual Amazon Work Style Assessment, which mainly checks:
-
Ownership
-
Bias for Action
-
Deliver Results
-
Teamwork & collaboration
-
Decision-making under pressure
It was straightforward — no right/wrong answers, just choose options closest to your working style.
Round 2 — Technical DSA Round
Interviewer asked 2 medium-level DSA questions:
- Intervals Greedy – similar to merging intervals / handling overlaps
- DP Subsequence – classic DP on subsequences with non-trivial transitions and boundary conditions.
I solved both within time, discussed approach, time complexity, and optimization.
Got a call after a week that I cleared this round.
Round 3 — DSA + Leadership Principles
Started with LP-based behavioral questions:
-
“Tell me about a time you went above and beyond.”
-
“Describe a situation where you showed ownership.”
-
“A difficult problem you solved in your repo/internship.”
Then 1 DSA question:
BFS: Generate the largest number ≤ n where adjacent digits differ by 1
- Examples: 121, 210, 343
Solve the ques within time.
Got mail for the final round after ~10 days.
Round 4 — Hiring Manager (HM) Round
Pure LP discussion. No coding.
Topics included:
-
Shortcut vs long-term choice
-
Handling responsibilities in internships
-
When I solved something impactful
-
Customer obsession, ownership, high standards, etc.
🎉Final Verdict
Received a call from the recruiter after one week —
Selected for SDE-1 @ Amazon.
