1. Opportunity

I got this opportunity through HackWithInfy. Even though I couldn’t get selected from the hackathon itself, I was given a chance to attend the interview process for the SP role.

2. Onsite Coding Round

The coding round was conducted on the Infosys Wingspan Assessment Portal (IWA). Interestingly, this round wasn’t informed beforehand — it was a surprise.
The scheduled time was 9 AM, but it started around 10 AM.
We had two coding questions, both at a medium level.
One was based on cycles and connected components.
The second was related to sorting and binary search.
The time limit was 45 minutes, but I was able to solve both within 25 minutes.
After clearing this round, I was shortlisted for the onsite interview.

3. Onsite Interview (Technical + Behavioral)

I had to wait quite a long time — almost 4 hours. Finally, at around 2:22 PM, I was invited into the interview cubicle where three panel members were present.

a) Introduction & Projects

Started with my self-introduction.
Discussed my projects and past experiences.
The panel noticed my coding achievements and hackathon experience.
They asked me detailed technical questions about my projects and problem-solving skills.

b)Problem-Solving

I was asked to write complete code (on paper) for the same problems from the onsite coding round and explain my approach.
Then, they tested my SQL skills with queries like:
Finding the nth highest salary using subquery.
Solving the same without subquery (using OFFSET, LIMIT).
Differences between RANK() and DENSE_RANK().
Follow-up database questions on ACID properties and Normalization.

3) OS & DSA

Questions on deadlocks, semaphores, and OS fundamentals.
Suddenly, one interviewer opened LeetCode and asked me to solve a medium Binary Search Tree problem live.
I solved it comfortably in ~5 minutes, explained my approach, and they seemed pleasantly surprised.
d) OOP & Networking
Questions on OOP pillars, virtual functions, and “Why OOP?”.
Networking basics like: “What happens when we type google.com in a browser?”.

4) HR Questions

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Why Infosys? Would you join us if selected?
What’s your dream company?
Have you attended other interviews before? (I said yes, 10+).
Do you have any offers in hand? (I honestly said no).
At the end, they asked if I had any questions. I enquired about the SP role responsibilities and the kind of projects I’d get to work on.

4. Closing

That concluded my interview at around 4:00 PM, making it quite a long day overall. In the end, it was a unique and rewarding experience. What stood out to me was the surprise coding round, the diverse coverage of DSA, SQL, OS, OOP, and Networking, and how the panel evaluated both technical depth and behavioral fit.

Hope you have a great day! I’m currently in an ambiguous situation regarding this role. If you’d like to know more or share your advice, here’s my discussion post:

Edit : I got selected for the role after 2 months!
