So, NatWest came to our college (Tier 1) for summer internship role of Summer Trainee.
The Online Test consisted of 4 sections where you had to attempt one section at a time. The 4 sections were SQL, English, CS Fundamentals and DSA. Questions were mostly easy, espescially DSA section. People had different sets with some overlap. One DSA question was exceptionally tough. Luckily, I didn't get that one.
They shortlisted 19 people for PIs, including me.
The PI was virtual and had only one round. Just before the interviews started, there was a Pre-Placement Talk for all the shortlisted candidates. Since my interview was scheduled last, I used the waiting time to thoroughly prepare and revise my projects and CS fundamentals.
Each interview panel had two interviewers. While the questions varied between panels, most of the focus was on the candidates’ projects. I was asked basic questions about my project and follow up questions on the tech stack by one of them. Since my project was a full-stack one, he asked me questions about React and other related technical topics. I answered all of it and then the first interviewer said that he is done and the second interviewer took over. The HR questions lasted for 5 mins and since I had prepared for them beforehand, I was able to answer them well. Finally, I asked a couple of smart questions about the company to the interviewers and they seemed satisfied by the questions.
Later that evening, I was offered a summer internship at Natwest Group.
The lesson I've learned is that you can never be fully prepared for your interview. However, what you can do is research the interview process thoroughly and be ready to adjust and adapt to any situation that comes your way.
Good luck to everyone out there!
