How I Got the Opportunity
The HR reached out to me on LinkedIn, but I believe she discovered my profile through Naukri.com.
During our initial conversation, she clearly mentioned that they were looking for someone with strong DSA (Data Structures & Algorithms) skills and that the interviews would focus heavily on problem-solving.
Interview Process – 3 Rounds
Round 1 – Technical + DSA
- Started with project discussion – I explained my current work and contributions.
- A few Java fundamentals questions to test my core knowledge.
- DSA Questions:
- Set Matrix Zero (classic problem)
- Binary Search based question
- Ended with a casual discussion on topics like AI and technology trends.
Round 2 – DSA + SQL + Project
- Began with a deep dive into my project.
- The interviewer wanted to understand the real-world use case, but I struggled to explain it clearly in a way that matched their expectations.
- DSA Question: Variation of Next Greater Element problem.
- SQL Queries: Writing different types of queries on joins and group by.
Round 3 – Technical Deep Dive (Late Night, 10 PM)
-
The interviewer mentioned that previous feedback suggested focusing more on project-related discussions.
-
Topics covered:
- RabbitMQ – around 10-15 minutes of questions about my implementation and usage.
- SQL questions – scenario-based queries and performance considerations.
-
Spring Boot core concepts – since Sigmoid uses Spring Boot extensively, the interviewer went deep into this.
- Here, I was unable to answer a few core Spring Boot questions clearly, which I feel impacted the feedback.
Key Takeaways
- Sigmoid places heavy emphasis on DSA, so be prepared for medium-hard coding questions like matrix manipulation, stack/array problems, and search variations.
- SQL skills are a must – be comfortable with joins, grouping, sorting, and handling edge cases.
- RabbitMQ and Spring Boot are critical since they are core to their tech stack.
- Be ready to explain your projects in depth, including real-world impact and technical decisions.
