Phone Screen:
Variation of https://leetcode.com/problems/walls-and-gates/description/

Actual question described in this post - https://leetcode.com/discuss/post/6855674/doordash-phone-interview-by-anonymous_us-yh8b/

Additionally, they also wanted the distance for 'X' marked locations, but other 'X' marked locations should still be considered blocked

System Design:

Design a donation functionality for 3 day chairty event. 10 charities hardcoded on UI and expecting 100M in donations over 3 days.

Code Craft:

There are 3 dependency APIs you need to call and return an aggregated response.

The APIs are esentially just mocked functions and you need to write tests as well. The test is just main method calling your created function and no actual test file.

Debugging:

It's implementation of Round Robin algorithm. There's a syntax error and some other logical errors both in actual functions and tests.

After fixing the errors, there were still about 15 mins left and the interviewer wanted to make improvements to the algorithm. He wanted me to implement some version of consistent hashing and create a hash function that maps requestIds to a numerical range such that same requests can be assigned to the same POD, execpt the requestIds were strings like "qweq-qw22q-dasds-32sd" (Not sure if he actually expected me to implement this or I imagined it to be overly complex)

Hiring Manager:

Common behavioral questions, Tell me about:

  1. Project you worked on from ground up, success metrics
  2. Time you had a failure/bug deployed to production
  3. Disagreement you had with your manager/peer
  4. Time you missed a deadline

I had somewhat relevant examples I had prepared to cover varitey of questions but the HM kept going back to get an answer specific to the situation in original question.
