My Google SWE Interview Experience

Round 1 (45 mins) – Coding Interview:

  • The interviewer started with a priority queue-based problem.
  • I solved it in 10 minutes with a clean and efficient solution.
  • Then I was asked a follow-up problem involving binary search.
  • I completed it in 13 minutes, so both main problems were done in 23 minutes.
  • Since there was still time left, the interviewer gave me an extra Hard (1900 on CF) problem.
  • I couldn’t solve the third one completely.
  • The interviewer was friendly and said “No worries, this was just an extra problem.”

Round 2 (45 mins + 15 min Googlyness) – Coding Interview:

  • I was able to solve all the problems in this round.
  • I communicated my thought process clearly and optimized my solutions.
  • The interviewer seemed satisfied and ended the interview on a positive note.

Update:

  • After 4 days, I received an invitation for the 3rd round of interviews.

Round 3 (45 mins + 15 min Googlyness) – Coding Interview:

  • I was given one coding question in the 45-minute interview.
  • I struggled initially to come up with the correct approach.
  • The interviewer gave me multiple hints to guide me.
  • I picked up on the hints and eventually implemented the solution.
  • I found the problem Hard it was based on graph and Game theory.
  • The coding part took around 10-12 mins, but and I was only able to complete that one question as I took time in finding the approach.
  • The interviewer was patient and supportive during the session.
  • The Googlyness round went fine.
  • Update :- the approach I coded was the most optimized one that he was looking for, some of my friends were asked the same question everybody struggled in this problem and there were no follow ups of the problem.

Update:- The recruiter asked for my Transcripts and told to wait for 6 to 8 weeks
