Hey everyone,
I'm excited to share my Amazon SDE-1 interview experience with you all. Posting this here as LeetCode was a huge part of my prep journey, and I hope this helps someone out there!

Round 1: Online Assessment (OA)

The OA had the usual components:

  • 2 DSA questions (LeetCode Medium to Hard level)
  • Virtual office simulation scenarios
  • Amazon Workstyle Assessment (Leadership Principles-based)

I was able to solve both coding problems comfortably and felt confident about the behavioral sections. Within a week, I got a call that I’d be moving forward to the interview loop.

Round 2: LLD Round

This was a Low-Level Design round.

  • I was given a design problem based on a strategy board game.
  • The task was to model the game logic and create clean class structures for the board, players, moves, etc.
  • The interviewer was keen on optimal time and space complexity, clean code, and modular design.

Round 3: DSA Round

  • 2 DSA Questions
    • One was a modified LeetCode Medium problem
    • The other was an Amazon-internal question simulating a real-life problem
  • Followed by some Leadership Principle questions

Round 4: Bar Raiser

This was entirely Leadership Principles based.

  • Discussed my resume, projects, and previous internships in depth
  • Questions focused on ownership, problem-solving, and handling ambiguous situations
  • The interviewer did dive deep into a few answers, but I answered them confidently in STAR format

Round 5: DSA + LP Round

Wasn’t expecting this round, but got scheduled shortly after the Bar Raiser.

  • 2 DSA Questions
    • One LeetCode Medium
    • One LeetCode Hard
  • Followed by some more LP questions

This round was smooth — I managed to solve both questions with optimal solutions and had a good conversation around LPs.

Verdict

A few days after my final round, I got a call from the recruiter — I had received the offer! 🎉

Getting into Amazon has been a dream of mine since college, and this entire process was intense, but incredibly rewarding. If you're prepping right now — keep at it. Stay consistent, focus on problem-solving and your stories for LPs, and trust the process.

All the best to everyone aiming for Amazon or any of your dream companies.
