I think the recruiter is lowballing me and I had tried negotiating but I am not good at it. The recruiter said this is the max base they can offer for a remote role and she'll try for 18.5 or 19 but the possibility for that is low.

One mistake that I did was quoting a 25 LPA expected CTC in the initial call that I had with the HR. At that time, I wasn't sure how much do they pay and was desparate for a job change.

Also, I don't have any competing offers, so don't know what to do.

Could you please share your insights? Also, how should I proceed?
