I applied for the Google Summer Intern position on July 14th through a referral and received a call from the recruiter on August 9th. Before my first round, I attended a session with 50-60 students conducted by the Google team, where we were guided on how to prepare and perform well in interviews. This session was incredibly insightful and helped me structure my preparation better.

After some back-and-forth scheduling, my first round was conducted on September 3rd.

In this round, I was asked two questions:

A hard DP question on trees, which I managed to solve in 25 minutes.
A file directory traversal question, which I solved in 20 minutes.

On September 4th, I got the result for the first round and was informed that I’d progressed to the next round.

The second round involved two more questions:

A binary search problem, followed by
A priority queue-based problem.
I was able to solve both questions, write clean code, and explain my approach properly.

After waiting for about a month, the recruiter informed me that she was preparing detailed feedback. Unfortunately, the hiring team decided not to move forward, and no specific feedback was provided.

Although the outcome was disappointing, the interview process was a valuable learning experience. I hope this post helps others preparing for similar interviews! 😊
