Bachelors from a TIER 1 institute in Computer Science.
Hi everyone,
LC platform has been super rewarding to me over the years so I would like to share my experience with Microsoft as well. Due to NDA, I cannot share the exact questions.
Applied via referral for a Senior Software Engineer role.
Team was happy with my resume and scheduled 3 technical Rounds.

Round 1: DSA
This round was mainly focused on DSA. Both questions are sorting/search related questions.
Both are LC Medium.
I provided a solution for first round (Not the most optimized) and the best possible solution for 2nd question.
This round went well. -
Round 2: LLD
This round was focused on LLD. Was asked to implement Message Queueing System.
The focus was on multithreading and Design patterns, so you might want to focus on that.
This round wasnt that great. -
Round 3: HLD
This round was focues on HLD. Was asked to design scheduler based system design.
It was a really good interaction and the interviewer was friendly.
This round went the best of three.
After these 3 rounds, Recruiter came back in a week and told interviews went well and scheduled a final round with HM.
- Round 4: HM (Past experiences and HLD)
Was asked a system design question "on the go" on one of the existing systems in Microsoft. I could see that the HM was super experienced and also my past experiences, behvioural scenario based questions, the discussion went great overall.
After a week, Recruiter has just sent a mail asking me for documents with details on my current salary, pay slips etc.
However, I see that the mail specifically didnt mention that I got selected as such and it just said that they were happy with me and want to go to next step. That makes me anxious and I have these questions -
- As they are asking for documents, does this stage means I am selected?
- Is it possible that they can revoke at this stage (even if all documents are apt and correct)
- What can be expected timelines i should expect to get an offer letter (This is because I need to plan my resignation).
- Will there be any scope of negotiation if I only have verbal offers (Do they ask for proof of the competing offers)
Any experiences with this please help me out to understand.
