I am from MAIT IPU, a tier 3 college. After clearing the basic aptitude and coding tests, I received a link for the communication test, followed by an invitation to book my interview slot. I chose September 19th at 3 PM. The date was fixed by them; I just had to select the time slot.

We were instructed to be in the lobby at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. I did exactly that, and it took me around 2-3 minutes to complete the system check. Unlike others, I was called in for the interview as soon as I entered the lobby.

That's when the disaster started.

The interview was conducted on their proprietary software, and I had no control over it—I couldn’t even navigate out of the video call. The interviewer seemed to be in a hurry, which irritated me.

Normally, interviewers introduce themselves before asking the candidate to do the same. However, this interviewer jumped straight into, "Introduce yourself." While I was speaking, I noticed his video frames were dropping, but I continued with my introduction.

About 10-20 seconds later, his video froze, and as I was wrapping up my introduction, I thought it’d be best to address the issue afterward, so I didn’t interrupt the flow.

After I finished, I said, "Sir, am I audible? Because you aren't." There was no response. A few seconds later, he left the meeting. I was confused—should I leave too? Would I be able to rejoin if I did?

Fortunately, he came back within 10-20 seconds and said, "It was a network issue from your end." I thought, “What? I just ran an extensive system check, and my flatmates had no issues.” But I apologized anyway, saying, "Sorry sir for my negligence, I should have connected to a proper internet connection. Can I change my network?" He replied, "Go on, try at your own risk."

I didn’t change anything but acted like I did some 'hacker-level' stuff, then asked, "Sir, is it okay now?" He responded, "It is perfect."

I was unsure if he had heard my introduction or not, but before I could ask, he said, "Explain any one of your projects." So, I began explaining my research project, but to my dismay, the same thing happened—his frame started dropping, and he left the meeting again.

I waited for him to return, wondering what excuse I should give, but then I was kicked out of the meeting and received a pop-up asking me to rate the interview from 1-5.

Interview over? Most would think so.

But I decided to try my luck again. I re-entered the lobby, and to my surprise, he called me back in. This time, he admitted that it was a power failure on his end.

He asked me to explain my project again. After I did, there were no follow-up questions. He then asked me to explain another project, and again, no cross-questions.

Finally, he asked, "Any questions for me?" I was tempted to ask, "Did you skip the system check, or did you bypass it?" But instead, I asked, "Is there any GenAI or AI-related project going on in Accenture? Because I would love to be a part of it."

P.S. I'm already placed with a package higher than what Accenture offers for the AASE role, so it's not like I’m dependent on this, but it wouldn't be pleasant to get rejected by Accenture. I’ll update this post with the result once it’s released.
