Appereared for Meta interview after the recrutier reached out to me, for position based in London and I do need visa sponsership.
This interview was for E6 role with infrastructure org.

  • Phone screen : 60 mins : 15 mins behavorial, 2 leetcode medium questions (variations of meta tagged 100 questions)

I was able to go well and at this point, they decided to interview me for E6.

Onsite, I was given ample time to choose. I had issue to balance between taking too long as I was doing leetcode grind while balancing system design prep.

Onsite:

  • Coding rounds: 2 coding rounds, 45 mins each, mostly variations of meta tagged questions. I was able to solve them though i missed optimization in one round and edge case in other, they were still good. Medium to hard questions were asked but good thing is most of them were from tagged questions.

  • System design : 2 rounds, 45 mins each, I primarily prepped from hellointerview and taking some mocks from FAANG engineers. I had good feedback in my mocks but performed poorly in one of the rounds as question was something I haven't worked before. E6 are supposed to design system even if they don't know, but the expectations from interviews were insane to me as in both my interviews, they just provided me an edge case (like consider design dropbox but only for case where input file > 50 GB) and talk to the solution to them. They required me to outlay each detail like table strcuture to keys in cache, etc.

I performed well in one round though not upto the mark, while was poor in other. Due to my sub-optimal performance in second system design , I was not considered for E5, which meta does in some cases.

  • Behavioral : Mixed performance. Some answers were marked for E6 while others were more towards E5. I didn't prepare much for this round but this is something meta emphasis on.

Overall, I got reject mail a week after my onsite round and thankfully, the recrutier agreed to share detailed feedback over call.
The points I wrote are based feedback I got from meta.

P.S: I won't provide any direct questions as I signed NDA but I guess, this might serve as a guide for some users trying to interview.
