About myself- I am from tier-2 college circuit background. I have cleared 2 times TCS NQT, and called for Prime Interview. From the 1st Interview (Prime), I got Digital offer. And the result for 2nd Interview (Prime) is yet to come.
There are 3 categories after clearing NQT Exam for UGs-
- Ninja- 3.3 LPA (+60 K based on IPA/ILP test)
- Digital- 7 LPA (+60 K based on IPA/ILP test)
- Prime- 9 LPA (+60 K based on IPA/ILP test)
Preparation-
Topics like basic maths, array, string, recursion, dp, heap, greedy will be enough. Level of difficulty will be LeetCode easy-medium. One can practice from Striver's TCS NQT sheet if they want, not necessary.
Abou Exam-
There were some MCQ questions(Apti/Quant/English/Logical,etc) and 2 coding questions 7 test cases each (includes private and public testcases). There's no negative marking for MCQs.
Selection Criterion (about what I noticed...)-
In 2024, it was kind of like, if anyone passed (11+/14) test cases or 1.5+ coding questions and nearly 40% MCQs correct, then they got called for Prime interview. And who cleared 1 coding question (7+/14) test cases and nearly 40% MCQs correct got called for Digital. And, who couldn't able to clear any coding question ((0-2)/14) testcases but did their mcqs well nearly 60%+ got called for Ninja role.
Getting interview invite for any role doesn't mean that he/she will get that role for sure. It depends a lot on how someone's interview goes, how many people came to give interview, mood of interviewer and other factors. Some of my friends didn't get any offer even though they got selected for Prime interview, while some got Ninja, Digital or Prime roles. Means they can downgrade your role based on the performance of yours in the interview, or they can not give any offer.
Interview-
There were pannel of 3 in the interview- 1 Technical, 1 Manegerial, and 1 HR.
In interview they asked me about my introduction, then they talked about projects and experience. Then they asked to solve couple of simple & easy questions based on array/patterns, 1 SQL Query using Joins/Unions/Group by/Order by/max/min/avg,etc and any trending technology like AI/ML/DL/Blockchain/AR/VR/IoT,etc, Then some general Managerial & HR Questions. That's all.
Selection mail-
After nearly 2 weeks slected student got the congratulations mail from the college and the company.
About on-campus or off-campus-
It doesn't matter. Only the place of interview depends. In on-campus means priority institutions, the venue will be your college, and for off-campus, the interview venue will be TCS office.
