Interviewed for Razorpay recently. There were three rounds,
Hackerearth assessment : 3 questions(1 DP Medium, 1 DP Hard, 1 SQL query)
Machine coding(LLD) : Got asked to create In memory EMI loan calculator
HM round : scheduled.
Moving to HM round. Had solved all the coding questions, completed requirements + bonus requrements in LLD round on time with working code, plus answered extra questions from interviewer. HR called after this confirming that this is a PDE role and not SDE. HR mentioned that PDE works in the same team as SDE but I realised there is a significant difference in the pay structure of the two. I tried convincing the HR to refer me to some SDE opening and that I was willing to give more interviews. HR hinted that I got a green signal for PDE role and if the panel wanted, they could've asked to put me in SDE but they didn't which sounded like I didn't meet the expectations. Genuinely confused regarding the selection process and the responsibilities of the two roles. I have cleared and lined up interviews for other companies as well for SDE roles that are willing to pay higher and I couldn't find a difference in the question levels of PDE at Razorpay and SDE at other companies. It is only fair to expect equal pay if the assessment is going to be equally tough.

Ask : Should I consider going forward with interviewing for a lesser pay(10-12CTC) or should I explore more options?
