DE SHAW | Senior Frontend Developer | Reject

My experience regarding recent SMTS role with DE SHAW -
Reached out by a recruiter at LinkedIn.
After 2 weeks, the first round was scheduled.

Giving interview after a very long time..

The interview started with a basic introduction with a brief overview of the role and the requirements..

Expected DSA or some theory based questions...

The interviewer started with a blank editor and the questions were as follows :-
1 - Center a Div (Easy but the blank screen was intimidating after a very long time, could not grasp hints properly, missed some key points)
2 - A basic form layout component needs to be designed which should modular and scalable (Medium -> Expectation was to use Custom hook to create reuable form, messed up very bad..)

After 30 -35 mins, The interview got over...

Learnings
1 - Properly get to know about the structure of the interview -> DSA heavy, theory heavy or raw JavaScipt Frontend Coding..
2 - Get requirements clarity and practice on blank txt file with no auto complete, many properties were looking new to me, which I casually miss with autocomplete..
3 - Focus on Standard HTML, CSS and JS questions involving raw implementations of standard problems which is provided by library like center a div, polyfills of standard functions..

Overall the interview was short but a good eye opener about High Bar of interviews for DE SHAW...

Hope this helps for someone just started to prepare for interviews..
