Recruiter reached out to me through LinkedIn.
Position: Front-end, Google, MTV
YOE: 1yr

Round 1:

  • Given an API that gives you all the pictures within the two coordinates (top left and bottom right), color the map that that has exactly 50 area and gives you exactly 250 pictures.
    I used DFS to solve this question.

Round 2:

  • You have multiple servers that are being used by both control groups and experimental groups. The control group may or may not have the servers that experimental groups have, but cannot have any server that the experimental groups are not using.
    Find all invalid control groups.

    Inputs :

    1. list of group IDs (both experimental group and control group)
    2. map {controlGroupID : experimentalGroupID}
    3. map {serverName: groupID} that shows which group is using which server
  • Follow-up: what if control group can be an experimental group of another control group?
    I figured this is basically a tree question, I came up with the solution and the interviewer was pretty happy with my answer.

Round 3:

  • You have an array of string that are extremely long, find the product of the length of the two longest strings that do not have any common characters.

    Ex. ['google', 'happy'] => none of the characters overlap so this is valid.
    ['aaaaaa', 'bbbbbbbbbbbb'] => also valid
    ['google', 'goodbye'] => both 'g' and 'o' are in both strings so this is not valid.

    I only had about 25 minutes to solve this question, first thought about using DP but the interviewer told me not to worry about time complexity so I came up with brute force solution.

Round 4:

  • Implementing Promise. Had to implement all of its functionalities such as resolve, reject, .then, .catch, Promise.all, and Promise.race.

Round 5: [Behavioral]

  • It was pretty standard questions like, conflict with your coworker, talking about challenges ...etc.

After solving about 450+ leetcode questions, I really thought I had chance, but the recruiter reached out to me after few days and told me that I got rejected. :(
