1 year+ internship experince
Location: Singapore
Date: March 9, 2023

HR mailed about the process, with timeline. I mailed her back if they will sponsor visa as I do not have work visa for singapore. She replied that they do sponsor visa. Then I attempted the OA.

OA round:
3 quesitons very basic, class 11-12 students can pass it.

1st Round (30 min):
Taken by two interviewers for singapore office.
General Introduction, few questions on projects.
One DSA questions:
Check if string 1 is rotated version of string 2, solved it. They only focused on sudo code, how I worked on the given example instead of making me write the actual code.
Then they shared what my answers should be around in round 2(basically managarial questions with answers should be focused on proactiveness and leadership skills)

2nd Round (1 hour):
Taken by person from Rakuten Japan office, basic intro of each of us, intro about the company.
Asked few managerial questions, my experince in unit testing, code review experince, working in team etc.
Originally the interview was scheduled for 30 min but got extended to more than 1hr.
Then he asked me to write three sql queries easy-medium level queries, answered them.
Then he asked if I had time for a DSA question, I said yes,
Question: seperate +ve and -ve numbers in an array. Solved it in O(N)
Also focused on how I work with the given example instead of making me write the actual code.

This was the last round.

I was really hopefully that I will definately get the offer, as there was nothing laging in any round, probably the best interview I had of my life.

Result:
Rejected, broke my heart into thousand pieces. When I asked for feed back HR replied with the feedback from the interviews:

Good and clear communication skills
Good exposure in data science and AI
Able to solve the coding question and explain it as well
Proactive mindset to make bigger impact. Good mindset to support others as well. Proactively contribute to open-source projects
Keep up the good work, positive attitude and continue to learn

Nothing negative about the feedback, they just said they found a better candidate.
Still not able to find closure for this experince, so writing this article maybe this could help.
