I applied on Tikok Careers portal, and got contacted by recruiter.

  1. Round One - Simple Call with recruiter, sharing my experience and common questions like why I wanna work for tiktok, am I familiar with C++?. Notice period etc. Then she explained to me the hiring process, that there will be a total of 3 interviews. 2 Techincal and one managerial round with my hiring manager's manager in Singapore.

  2. Round Two - (Techincal+System Design), First we starting talking about how we could store big amounts of in Database, the interviewer was mainly interested in data consistency part. Explained all the edge cases that can occur and tried to come up with an solution. But the interviewer was specifically looking for 2 phase commit protocol used for data consistency, I was not aware of it at the time. But Interviewer gave feedback that you covered all the edge cases, which is sufficient, and we moved on.

    Then He asked me if I knew what are smart pointers, I hadn't revised my Cpp Skills, so without taking any chances said no, I am not aware. The interview said no issues, and we started with a simple leetcode problem of https://leetcode.com/problems/simplify-path/

    Explained solution quickly and coded it even quicker, interviewer satisfied.

  3. Round 3 - Got mail that I cleared previous round, and there will be another techincal round. In this round interview asked me LeetCode Hard question - https://leetcode.com/problems/reconstruct-itinerary/

I explained my approach and started coding, gave a quick dry run of the code. The Interview wanted me to go in detail for the Time complexity of the code, but due to less time we needed to stop.

Result - Rejected - Even though I did relatively good in all the interviews, I guess they wanted me to be perfect in my answers. Could have done better in system design question, in the 2nd interview, I could have been more coherent in my thought process and while coding I jumped up and down in my code, that might have given a bad impression, overall the interiviewers were nice and respectful. But the recruiter ghosted me without feedback :P
