Interview was conducted virtually for Bangalore Location. It had 4 rounds as detailed below.
Machine Coding Round: Offline (2 hours + Code Review session)
Design a Pendency system which should do handle below requirements:
- Start the tracking of Id which a hierarchy of [instrument, state, city]
- Stop tracking of Id
- Count of active Ids in any valid hierarchy e.g. active counts in [UPI, Karnataka] or [UPI]
The latency of Count API had to be as minimal as possible.
Focus is on how the classes are created using OOP Principles. Code should be structured in extensible way for any given scenario. Their main focus was if code reusability, separation of concerns etc. are used.
PS/DS Round (1 hour)

- You are given list of work schedules in form of Intervals and profits associated with each interval. Find the maximum profits by scheduling work such that there is only 1 task in work at a time.
System Design Round (1 hours)
Design HLD + LLD for Social Network like system which can do below things:
- Creates Posts. It can contain attached Image/Video/Text etc.
- Add connections.
- View Feed on your timeline. Feed would contain posts from connections.
Focus is on Micro Service, DB Design (Federated DBs, SQL vs NoSQL etc.), Addressing bottlenecks with DB Sharding, DB Replication, Load balancers, API Gateway, Asynchronism etc.
Hiring Manager Round (1 hour)
General Discussion on Past projects and situations faced in those projects. Behavioural and Situational Questions to know how would you react and face them.
Was done with the questions in 40 minutes and had next 20 minutes to casually discuss on PhonePe teams, structures, work culture etc.
After 1 working day I was informed that I am have successfully completed all rounds and they would give an offer to me.
