I applied through their career page and got a mail from recruiter within a week or two. We scheduled intro call on April 3rd week.
Intro call (30mins):
Introduction call was with one of the team member and not with the HR/recruiter.
Usual introduction, casual talks, why Adyen, why Madrid over Amsterdam since Amsterdam is their main tech centre...
A detailed discussion on current project, role and tech stack.
Feedback: There was no update for 3 days and I decided to follow up on 4th day. It was positive and got the link to their online test.
Hackerrank online test (3hrs):
- Described by me here: https://leetcode.com/discuss/interview-question/2012950/Build-a-cache-for-card-types-or-Online-Assessment-Question - 6/10 ish passed as far as I remember.
- SQL based question that needed full join, group by, count, order by and avg. Requirement was to find the average and count based on group in one table, join it with other to get some other properties that were to be selected and order it. Could not do this.
- An UML diagram and a half baked project with skeleton and failing unit test cases were given. They had integrated VS Code in hackerrank. Based on the UML diagram, had to complete the project by implementing interfaces, classes, methods and relations and ensure the test cases pass. Concurrency & multi threading were also to be taken care of. I could implement this and could clear all the test cases - 13/13.
Only Java option was available for coding questions since this was for Java role.
Feedback: Standard rejection mail.
I am not sure if the expectation was to solve all 3 or to solve atleast 2 completely. But recruiter was responsive over the email and gave the feedback that I need to improve on Q1 & Q2.
