Amazon | SDE 1 New Grad | Mar 2021 | Seattle [Offer]

Thanks to leetcode community for all the in-depth analysis of all the concepts. It's time to give back. I will try to share every document and details which I have used and will definetly help you in getting your dream job in FAANG.

About me:

Position: New Grad SDE-1 @ Amazon
Location: Seattle, Washington
Date: March 25,2021
YOE: Fresher

Preparation and Timeline:

  • May/2019: started LeetCode with easy problems.
  • Target to solve 6-7 questions daily. The average comes out nearly 4 question per day. Because I don't code at all in some days.
  • Try to understand the every bit of Code to get deep Understanding.
  • Did whatever Question leetcode gave me since starting(whether easy, medium or hard).
  • Jan/2021: Found the job on LinkedIn from mutual connection. Applied and Contacted by Recruiter.
  • Jan/5/ 2021: Online Assestment.
  • Jan/26/2021: Onsite.
  • Feb/5/2021: Got selected but I didn't have EAD in hand. So delay until march.
  • March/25/2020: Job offer.

Onsite Interview Jan 26 2021:

  • 4 rounds of Interview with 2 breaks each 1 hour long(total 6 hours).
  • First Round: Hiring Manager. 3 Behavioral Questions and about 3-4 follow up on each. Be ready to explain the details.
  • Second, third and fourth interview: 5 mins intro + 1 Behavioral question (with 3 follow ups, total ~25 mins) + 1 coding question( ~20-25 minutes) + 5 mins time to ask questions from the Interviewer(Ask good Questions with Enthusiasm).
  • Interviewer will ask to Optimise the code if there is a window. They did ask in my case. I gave fully Optimized Code luckly with space and time complexity.
  • Got the good news from the recruiter after 7 days.

Advice: Practise interviews a lot with friends before the Onsite. Optimise the interview time. Continuously discuss the approaches coming in your mind with interviewer. Write the code right away if interviewer is impressed with the approach.

My Notes:

I am attaching a google drive link having my personal notes:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OUmTtr8hPOXPd6Wq8boKnGfOQUo2Ec4F?usp=sharing

Make sure to read the leetcode god file. That file had a major contribution in organizing my preparation(about 35%). Must follow each and every line. That's also a Leetcode Post which I saved.

Important Tip:

  1. Learn as much as you can. Try to cover all the topics(Tree, trie, union find, DP, flood fill, sorting algos), types of algorithms, and Data structures.
  2. After submission on Leetcode, Understand the 0ms solutions. They will help you in writing Optimized code with good coding habits.
  3. Practise everyday. It's hard to study new topics but trust me they are very easy. Just don't give up in the initial stages.

My Motivation line to my Best Friends:

If you can do 1+2 = 3 then you can be the best coder. it's just you need to dedicate some time.

Trust me that always works😉!
