Was contacted by recruiter over linkedIn.
Onsite:
Round 1: System Design + API design
I was asked to design an online book store. Was asked to write the APIs , define classes and later was asked about the infrastructure, how I would handle security, what type of database etc.
This was a bitter experience, though the problem was easy, the interviewer wanted me to write everything on the coderpad, for example If I said I would use microservices , the interviewer asked me to write that down verbatim. There were just one word questions, didn't seem like a converstaion at all.
Round 2: Coding question similar to https://leetcode.com/problems/boundary-of-binary-tree/
https://leetcode.com/problems/word-ladder-ii/
Interviewer was not interactive at all. No conversation what so ever.
Round 3: Coding question similar to https://leetcode.com/problems/insert-delete-getrandom-o1/
Was able to solve the problem eventually, but took a bit of time.
Round 4: Coding question similar to https://leetcode.com/problems/course-schedule-iv/
Interviewer was good, interactive, enjoyed solving the problem
Round 5: Hiring Manager: General behavioral questions, explain the most complex problem you had to solve etc..
There were connection issues and I couldn't hear the interviewer/ or vice-versa half of the time. There were lot of repetition needed because of that.
I screwed up a little bit in the coding rounds, hence the reject. Surprisingly there wasn't much time set aside for LP questions. I was just asked around 5-10 mins at the end of each round, and the follow up question for any anser would be do you have any metrics as to how many people it impacted etc..
This was basically part of pool interviews or something. So all the interviewers had 5 other interviews to attend back-back, and hence they seemed to be in a rush. I haven't heard about such process in amazon earlier. But didn;t have a good experience overall
