I applied through the Google Careers portal, and my resume scored around 94. Shortly after, I received an email from Google’s Extended Workforce team to schedule an interview. However, after setting up five different meetings, none were accepted. Eventually, the HR representative called me to discuss my availability. I provided some additional time slots, and we finally scheduled the interview for February 10th. (This whole back-and-forth happened in the last week of January.)

The Interview 🎤
The session began with the interviewer introducing himself and sharing insights about his role as a Product Manager at Google.

📌 Self-Introduction & Resume Discussion
When asked to introduce myself, I confidently shared my background, highlighting one of my key projects from my resume. The interviewer seemed really interested in it and asked me two follow-up questions related to the project.

🧠 Product Thinking Question
Then, the actual interview started. Throughout the entire conversation, the interviewer was typing everything I said, which made me feel like he was taking detailed notes.

The main product question was:
💡 “If you were a PM at LinkedIn and wanted to create a feature to help freshers get jobs, what would you do?”

I took a moment to clarify the scope and expectations before answering. I then proposed 4–5 different strategies. Among them, he asked me to prioritize one, explaining both from a user’s perspective and a PM’s perspective.

After discussing that in detail, he challenged me further:
🔹 "Now, if you had limited resources and could only develop one of these ideas, which one would it be?"

This led to a 45-minute deep dive, where he continuously questioned my choices:
🧐 "Why this approach?"
🤔 "Why not the other one?"
⚖️ "What trade-offs are involved?"

It was an interactive and engaging discussion, which I really enjoyed!

Competitive Analysis 🔍
At the end of the interview, he asked:
💡 "Where do you think Google is lagging behind its competitors, and why?"

I brought up DeepSeek & ChatGPT, discussing how Google has superior technical infrastructure and hardware capabilities but still faces stiff competition in AI-driven search and conversational AI.

My Questions 🙋‍♂️
At the end of the interview, I got the chance to ask a few questions:

🛡️ Bug Bounties & Security at Google – I was curious about how Google handles bug bounty programs and the impact of security researchers on its ecosystem.

🚀 Life After Being a PM at Google – I asked what career growth looks like for a Product Manager at Google, how they transition into leadership roles, and what opportunities open up after gaining PM experience at Google.

The interviewer answered these questions enthusiastically, sharing insights into how PMs contribute to security initiatives and career progression paths within Google.

Final Thoughts 🤞
The interviewer was super chill and friendly throughout the conversation. He casually sipped on a protein shake while listening to my answers.

Now, I’m just waiting for the response—fingers crossed! 🤞 Hoping for the best!
