Applied for the Engineering Residency Program in October 2019.

Received an invite from a recruiter for two back-to-back phone screen interviews.

The Google engineers were from Mountain View and Chicago/NYC locations.

My interview took place in December 2019. Your recruiter will ask you your main programming language beforehand. The interviewers wants you to ask clarifying questions while writing code on a Google document.

Questions:

  1. One question that is resume based (projects, experience)
  2. Technical Question

Question 1:
Given a class implement a file system delete method to delete all files in the folder or any subfolders: https://leetcode.com/problems/remove-sub-folders-from-the-filesystem/

Question 2:
Flatten a Multilevel Double Linked List: https://leetcode.com/problems/flatten-a-multilevel-doubly-linked-list/

This interview was one of my first interviews in my journey to land a SWE role before graduation.

I definitely learned what I needed to touch up by going through the nerves and the back to back interviews. I think the nice thing about Google providing this opportunity for new grads was after the phone screen interview, it would be a video call technical interview through Google chat.

I hope this post helps at least one person. Good luck!
