Position : Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2020)

Heads up to others that are currently interviewing for the software engineering internship position at Google. You will be coding over the phone on a shared Google Doc (not a text editor) and the interviews will be back to back.

First Phone Interview Question : 33. Search in Rotated Sorted Array
Second Phone Interview Question : 98. Validate Binary Search Tree

Someone in my Operating Systems class had told me about LeetCode and advised be to study long before my interviews. I watched Nick White and Kevin Naughton on YouTube while solving problems. I consistently did LeetCode for about 2 months leading up to the interviews and solved over 60 problems.

From my understanding the questions you get asked during the internship interviews aren't as difficult as the ones you might get while interviewing for a full time position. Both of my interviewers were very nice and helped me through the problems; giving me hints when I got stuck. One thing I was told to do is ask questions at the end and the interviewers seemed like they expected me to. I asked what location my interviewer worked at and how the culture differs by location.

Apparently one of the criteria Google uses to score candidates is Googliness (culture fit).

Good luck to anyone else in the same boat as me.
